The Red Room Chair
Red Room Art Studio, Culver City, CA.
30" x 38", July 2000

My first open studio experience was exciting. It was idealized and Warholesque. It was that bit of big city excitement that a person might expect from the L.A. scene. Done as a contemporary homage to Van Gogh's chair, the painting takes a forceful graffiti approach with a bend towards nowadays psychedelic. Never forgetting Expressionist concepts of yesteryear, the work is grounded by its underlying sense of realism.
